Minoxidil topical is used for the treatment of male-pattern hair loss.

Minoxidil works by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles and extending the growth (anagen) phase of the hair cycle. Available as a topical solution or foam, minoxidil is applied directly to the scalp, usually twice daily depending on the formulation. Results typically begin to appear after 3–6 months of regular use, with continued application necessary to maintain hair growth. If treatment is stopped, hair loss may resume.
